Mrs Nargis Awan wife of Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Awan was born at Sialkot. She obtained the degree of MA in 1968 from Oriental College, University of the Punjab, Lahore. She served as Chairperson, Social Services Board during 1992-93; as President Director, RD National Center, Islamabad, Information Department during 1974-75; and also remained a column writer in Daily Mushawat during 1972-74. A thesis namely “Marsiya-e-Anees Mein Almiya Anasir” published in 1968 is to her credit. A social worker, who has been elected as Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in general elections 2008 against one of the seats reserved for women. She has visited UK, Denmark, Scotland, India, Bangladesh and USA. Her husband served as Member, Punjab Assembly and as Provincial Minister for Settlement and Rehabilitation during 1972-77; and as Member, National Assembly and Federal Minister during 1988-90.
