Dr Muhammad Shafique Chaudhry son of Ch Faqir Muhammad was born on April 24, 1953 at Faisalabad. He obtained the degree of M.B.B.S. in 1976 from King Edward Medical College, Lahore and the degree of LL.B. in 1999 from University of the Punjab Lahore. He served as Member, National Assembly during 1985-88; as Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab during 1990-93 and 1993-96; has returned to Punjab Assembly for the third term in General Elections 2002. He worked as Minister for Excise and Taxation from January 4, 2003 to November 30, 2006. He is functioning as Minister for Literacy and Non-Formal Basic Education since December 1, 2006.
