Maher Ijaz Ahmad Achlana son of Maher Bhadar Achlana was born on January 15, 1966 at Layyah and is a law graduate. An agriculturist, who served as Member, District Council Layyah during 1991-93 and 1998-99. He remained Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab during 2002-07 and 2008-13. He has returned to the Punjab Assembly for the third consecutive term in general elections 2013 and is functioning as Minister for Disaster Management Department. He also served as Parliamentary Secretary for Home. He has visited Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. His wife, Mrs Rehana Ijaz was Member of Punjab Assembly during 2008-13 and also functioned as Chairperson, Standing Committee on Tourism & Resort Development. They were the first couple in the history of Punjab Assembly who had become MPAs simultaneously in 2008.
