Personal Career & Interests

Ms Surriya Naseem daughter of Mr Maqbool Ahmed was born on November 10, 1967 at Faisalabad. She obtained the degree of M.A Urdu in 1989 from Murray College, Sailkot and that of degrees of B.Ed in 1990 and M.A Islamiyat in 1998 from University of the Punjab, Lahore. She was awarded first prize in 1988 in All Pakistan poetry competition held in Murray College, Sailkot. An educationist and a social worker, who served as Lecturer at Allama Iqbal Law College and Ayesha Women College, Sialkot during 1990-93 and 1995-98 respectively. She remained Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from February 2007 to November 2007 and has returned to Punjab Assembly in general elections 2013 against one of the seats reserved for women. She is a founder of an NGO namely “POONA” established in December 2011, working for poverty alleviation, women empowerment and capacity building of youth. To her credit there is also a publication published in 1993. She has visited China and Yemen.
